Play on sekrit guys, you need fresh minds to probe-

http://www.sekritforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=113240#p113240 Jim's got an ace ruleset

I'll be honest - I don't think it has anything to do with the players. I think it's more a problem that we've played the game for six years almost and it's become a bit old hat. I mean, I even stopped playing for a couple of years as I was growing tired of it and when I started playing again that feeling of ennui came back very quickly.

Even the best games get tired after a while.

The real question is, what do we replace it with?

Do we have to replace it?

I mean, people hardly ever participate in the Tale anymore but we keep them going for those who want to.

To be honest, General Discussion is what this forum is all about for me, everything else is just fun sideline activities.

DAMMIT JIM.

Anyway, the thing with the Tales is that they can be kept going with just 3/4 people, a TWG really needs nearly 20 to be a viable game. We don't have that number of forumites who are interested anymore.

Another Diplomacy game could always be a possibility, although they run for much much longer, you only need 7 people.

For short term forum games, HHG are fantastic, but really intensive on the GM. I look forward to every single one.

Thing games work with a smaller number of people too, because the turnover of players is much smaller, but people don't seem as interested.

I think the main problem with TWG is that you need a high starting population because you need to have about half of them die before the game finishes, for any "replacement" we should look at stuff that means everyone gets to stay alive until the end, because I think that suits our lower population.

I'm always happy to run an HHG, by the way, provided that we can get 6-8 players involved.

Also, another diplomacy could be a hoot and a half.

I have issues with Diplomacy ¬_¬

"Does he ever do that thing with you?" the prince asked the then-prime minister. "... when he's sitting opposite you, he slides down the seat with his legs apart, his crotch pointing a little menacingly, and balances his teacup and saucer on his tummy. It's very odd. I've never seen someone do that before. What do you think it means?"

Could this be our new forum game?

I've been tempted to run one on the RPS forums at some point but I don't know how well it would go down with the powers that be.

Yeah, there's a forum.

I can't see the Hivemind having any problem with it (although I'm sure you thought the same when you wanted to run a murder mystery once upon a time), but my one concern would be that the PM system is hilariously awful.
