Posted this on Sekrit an age ago, but it never got played. I'd be interested in seeing what you guys think of it.
QUOTE OK, the purpose of this ruleset was to find a way of pushing the wolves to be active while eliminating the more 'random' elements of the game. I strongly dislike players dying through little/no fault of their own, so this is an attempt to create a ruleset that encourages active play from both wolves and humans, while not being too unbalanced either way.
--- THE RULES: There are NO special roles, just Humans and Wolves. If more than one wolf fails to vote in the Day phase, the wolves do not then get a kill that Night phase. If there is one wolf left, they must vote in order to be able to kill in the Night phase. On Days 1-3, the wolves may ONLY kill humans who have not voted in the Day phase. If all humans have voted, then there is no wolf kill those nights. WoG will apply to anyone who fails to vote for TWO days in a row. The ratio will be around 4 Humans : 1 Wolf (For example, in a 20 person game, there would be 4 wolves and 16 humans). --- That's all, it's a pretty simple ruleset, but it forces the wolves to be active if they want their night kills while offering them the chance to 'fake' not getting their kill. The rule on Days 1-3, and the increased frequency of WoGs was to encourage humans to come forwards and put more reasoning in, and should hopefully encourage more activity, while the wolves can pick off stragglers early on. -------------------- Janek: Hentzau's cold heart is so unfeeling that the only approximation he has of happiness is underage Japanese hookers.

I like it too!

My main worry is that if your fellow wolves aren't particularly committed, you can get really screwed over because you can't kill. Inactive wolves would usually not hurt their side, but here that make the game worse for those who do want to play.

Yeah, it would have to be coupled with a badass WoG proceedure.

The only time I've ever seen a truly badass WoGing procedure was on that game I hosted on PW when it was "vote or DIE".
I recall that working really well, but then in those days we had the liberty of 25+ people playing. -------------------- |

My main worry is that if your fellow wolves aren't particularly committed, you can get really screwed over because you can't kill. Inactive wolves would usually not hurt their side, but here that make the game worse for those who do want to play. Wolves tend to be the more committed players. And with WoGing if you don't vote for just 2 days in a row, and needing 2 wolves to fail to vote to lose your kill, it would take a really apathetic wolf team who nevertheless vote every other day to avoid the WoG to lead to serious problems. At which point their fellow wolves would probably cut their losses and lynch them. I mean, yeah, it's a possible issue, but I don't think it'd be too likely an occurrence. The one issue I can see is that it's likely to be a LONG game unless the WoG claims a decent few victims. -------------------- Janek: Hentzau's cold heart is so unfeeling that the only approximation he has of happiness is underage Japanese hookers.
