I think it may be a good idea to discuss a little some basic aspects of the setting. It doesn't need to establish anything dogmatic, but getting a few things down about the setting may help us develop the idea more, since we don't have the instinctual fall-back of the real world here.

As the Quests go on, we can then add more details as we discover pertinent details of the Fantastical world...

Firstly I'm voting for your idea that we call the land/realm/kingdom Generica. It just works so well.

Generica as the name for the principal continent (however big and nebulous that is) that our brave adventurers start on? That would fit well, I think.

Then we can have however many kingdoms, a dozen principalities and a hundred dukedoms (etc.)

Within is the Kingdom of Bakaria, a place of egotistical Lords and historically weak kings and queens. It also sort of borders on the Deadlands, home of the Sorceror-King Imraxil, known for its industry and commercialism (which is clearly evil).

Sounds good to me. Are you planning on being Imraxil?

If I run that Quest. I would consider making him a longer-running Bad Guy too (Bad... but also misunderstood... :( )

I'm not sure if people realised that meant I was totally into it.

Now I just need to think up some weird-sounding names for stuff.

Can the Deadlands also be home to the Oligopods: those sufficiently favoured by the Sorceror-King through their respective organisations that they are free to terrorise whom they please? They can be ultimately responsible for supplying King Imraxil with his magical equipment, fancy jewels and shiny shiny robes through nefarious means.

I am all set to kick this off any time, but my question is - do we have enough characters? I guess we have two "good" characters, a neutral and an evil character which is enough to be going on with and I'd argue that hopefully when we start more people will become interested.

Might be best removing you post in the armoury till later Kenti, just to give more people time to show up to join from the Adventurers Guild.

Also once again CDave is brilliant. :D

Just putting it here for safe-keeping.

Quote

Hammers beat out the breastplates.

Fingers clamp rings of mail.

Feathers are glued onto arrows.

The trumpeters play heroic notes.

...

This is what happened in some far-away place, a Guild in another place. Back in Bakaria? Jakar and Valgus stood by the Armoury. Um, the Guild's Quartermaster eyed them suspiciously.

"The Guildmaster did say we were to be equipped," suggested Jakar.

"Hmm," Um said.

"With the best equipment," Valgus added.

"Ah?"

"So... I would like the finest coat of mail, a longsword, straight and true, a small crossbow I can conceal about my person, two dozen quarrels, and three enchanted bolts (ice, lightning and exploding please) and... oh, any magical lutes?" Jakar suggested expectantly.

"Um..." Um said looking around the empty stores. "We're all out." He even smiled.

Jakar and Vulgus visibly drooped. "So, Vulgus, it's just you and I and my leather jack? Ah... shit..."

This is not helpful.

Also I presume when Ike speaks, "Umlaut" is to be pronounced in a Swedish-Walrus-From-Woody-Woodpecker voice? Because it certainly is in my head.
